COGZ Recommendations Prior to Data Entry
Once you have installed COGZ Maintenance Software either over an evaluation or as a new installation, data entry is the next step. There are a few things that are recommended prior to you entering your data. Follow the steps below to ensure that your program implementation goes smoothly.
You want to delete the test data in the program to eliminate any unnecessary information that does not pertain to your specific operation. Information on deleting test data can be found here.
If you have any data being entered from another program or that you have placed in spreadsheets, you can use the import utility to enter this data. Note that you cannot import any item that already exists in COGZ.
You should also consider the treatment of your data when entered. We would recommend determining your setup method so the style is consistent and easy to follow for users of the program. You want to make things as simple and easy as possible. We would recommend using the data entry information section of your user manual for numbering and coding your data. Be sure you also take a look at your PM Standard Task Library List for possible preventive maintenance tasks that may or may not be used for your particular setup. Feel free to use the existing tasks, edit them as needed, or delete them if they do not fit your industry type.
Once you have any imported data entered into COGZ Maintenance Software, if necessary, you can then start entering the balance your data. Enter your data using the numbering method previously decided. Keep your data entry consistent and simple. This will ensure a well organized database that can be easily maintained and updated when necessary.
Additional information on initial Data Entry when setting up COGZ can be found in the COGZ Manual under Numbering and Coding in the What to do First Section.
